21st Century Vagrants (My SST3 piece)

5 Feb

21st Century Vagrants We are ALL 21st Century vagrants of our time.from shore to shore Only now it is modern day opium dens that feeds addiction and greed. We are 21st century Vagrants in a post Victorian Whitechapelwhore-ing around for the next junk food pleasure. In dark alleyways of our being. Those who dice with deathlike a 21st CenturyJack the Ripper. IT IS MURDER on our wallets and is left lying in a smog filled streetdying to get into the work -house of shame to scratch out a livingIn a modern day era of some sort of 21st century Apothecary that poisons ourselves with arsenic beer and completes our transition into a time machine that transports us back into a modern day 21st Century Victorian vagrant. 21st century RIOT! AND REVOLUTION!echoes of a 19th century revolution!from industrial age to the modern day suffragettes throwing themselves at he carriages of democracy for an equal share of a capitalist society vote! 21st Century Ale street drinkers and opium still the high of the vagrant onlynot in dens but within lower class council slums houses.to smoke and inject the life force of vagrancy. Prostitutes of consumerism and cash thieves reign large whilst a police battalion forms and the martial law of the 21st century vagrants heartsbeat solid and fast! Protest! and Voices! drowned out against 21st century Ghetto-ization that melts into the 19th century slums of the government and the monarchy. The shame of the modern day 21st century.

let me know what you think people ;D

Hey Serita – I’m not sure if you have set this out in this way deliberately or if copying it into the web page has set it like this? If I try and analyse it I find it really hard to follow – but if I close my eyes (if you get what I mean!!) and just listen it’s like a punk rant – so if this is your intention that’s great – because there is a repeptition of phrases that come back like a refrain. There are some great phrases in there like ‘whoreing around for the next junk food pleasure’. There are words I think you could cut like ‘some sort of’ I think it is much stronger to say it is a 21st century apothecary, rather than ‘some sort of 21st century apothecary’ . There is a lot of passion in there but it does choke the clarity and I want clarity – sometimes your punctuation makes it hard for me to understand where one thing ends and another begins – but then if I heard you perform this it may be totally different – I get the impression that they way your write it on the page is an aid to how you deliver it out loud? The use of ‘vagrancy’ is really strong, the idea that we are in some kind fo time loop, all vagarnts despite the things we have accumulated – can you break it down into clear, concise staements and then merge it all backtogether again, that way I think you will achieve the clarity that will deliver your message. (By the way, being a hang-over from the 80s – I love a good punk rant!)
