Poetry should move, slide, stick

15 Mar

Poetry should climb trees.
Should roll you away from the cliff.
Make you feel safe.

Poetry should wear make-up.
Practice putting make-up on others
that guy stealing your television.

Poetry should rock up in a tux
without a tie.

Should give a tenner
to a hobo and a millionaire
at the exact same time.

Poetry should move, slide, stick.

Should be in every living room,
embrace every couch potato.

Poetry, should be in a supermarket.
A buy-one-get-one-free psychiatrist
who is patient when you cry.

Poetry should be a last song mosh-pit.

A confessional booth when you are scared
to admit the truth.

It should be comfy underwear

that never wears out.
