In association with Nottingham Women’s Centre, Women’s Aid: this is to be a special #SpokenWordSunday

On 1st September, CAST Bar and Restaurant (next to Nottingham Playhouse) 5-8pm.

Come and celebrate what it is to be a woman with the LAUNCH event to the 2013 Nottingham Women’s Conference.

You will have a night of spoken word poetry and music to inspire and dazzle you.

We have some Mouthy Poets performing for you…

LILA RANDALL is a copywriter by day and poet by night, likes to experiment with topics and styles and will be accompanied by YAZMIN LACEY PHILLIPS, an up and coming sassy singer song-writer. Their piece will be focusing on women role models and questioning genders.

SIMONE ESTRIDGE clambers up mountains to take pictures of the world, through different lenses. She aims to bring life to words, in a way that confronts mindsets and triggers memories. Simone is on a challenge not to remain comfortable, but to bring authenticity in her work, for it to become relatable to all.

She will have musical accompaniment by her talented sister, SHELEEN ESTRIDGE

SACHA WISE is a published poet who refuses to put her pen down or turn her voice off. Passions include female empowerment and human equality preferably whilst drinking green matcha tea. Recently, she won Nottingham Poetry Society Slam and also obtained the prestigious Roosevelt Scholarship to travel to America for three months to pursue her passions. She will be talking more about this opportunity on the night.

we also have special guests…

SARAH CAMPLIN who is a liberated woman with a big, jaded heart but one that is perpetually bouncing back. Passionate about reducing the risk caused by domestic abuse and inspiring empowerment within myself and others. Alongside growing a few greens.

DORI KIRCHMAIR who has a long-held passion for writing and expressing herself creatively and connecting with the world through short stories, poetry and talks. She will be performing her piece ‘Resonance’ which is a short story about connecting with what resonates with you, what feels truly right for you; where you align with your self – your own truth. Not one to miss!

We have local, female musical acts for your feet to tap along to. These beautiful ladies are inspirational beyond their talents and it is an honour to have them perform incorporating original songs with rich tones, and meaningful lyrics. There might even be a first time collaboration between them, you are going to have to come along to find out with…

Come and be inspired and fall in love with what it is to be a woman.
